Wedding Attire to Accommodate the Winter Wedding Scene
One of the first things that a girl begins to think about when planning her wedding is her wedding dress. Imagine a
flowing confection of tulle or silk or taffeta floating down the isle as she is on her way to become a wife. If you
are planning a winter wedding then you will be faced with the joy of finding a dress and finding all the great
accessories that will go along with it to keep you warm during the cold winter season. Finding wedding attire to
accommodate the winter wedding scene is a long process of carefully coordinated pieces because white is not just
white.
The reason that the bride wants to carefully consider wedding attire to accommodate the winter wedding scene is
that she will be going through many climates on her wedding day. On the trip to and from the ceremony it may be
cold. During the ceremony there may be specific guidelines that require you to have your shoulders or head covered.
While dancing the night away at the reception the bride may get quite hot and wish to shed some layers.
When you are shopping for a wedding dress you should take your time and find a great seamstress. You may find the
perfect dress but need to have sleeves added. A great seamstress will be able to take any extra fabric from the
dress you have shortened and make a pair of sleeves or possibly a little jacket. If you have the time and the money
then you may want to skip all the dress stores and go right to the seamstress and have your dress custom
designed.
If you do not wish to have sleeves added to the dress of your dreams then you may want to consider a wrap or a
cape. True, a cape sounds very medieval and silly but just think back to when you were a kid going out to Christmas
parties and you donned a cape and muff for your hands. A cape has a certain Russian snow bunny appeal and can be
the perfect thing when you are trying to find the perfect wedding attire to accommodate the winter wedding
scene.
Along with dressing yourself you are possibly going to be dressing bridesmaids as well. If you want all of your
girls to be alike then keep in mind that all of your girls may get cold as well. You may not want them to stand out
as grandly as you and don capes as well, but what about wraps and cutaway coats. Churches are known to be cool
places just by design since they are so open and drafty. Your girls may be able to wear their own coats to and from
the ceremony and may be dressed okay for dancing but during the ceremony it is a good idea to at least let the
girls wear a shawl.
Finding the perfect wedding attire to accommodate the winter wedding scene may be a challenge. However, keep in
mind that there are no rules for what you can and cannot do. If you want to have a cape but do not want to be all
white then think about a green velvet cape a la Scarlett O’Hara. If you want to have a long flowing taffeta gown
with intricate sleeves and still wanted to dance the night away then consider having a costume change in between
ceremony and reception. There is no limit to what you can come up with. Think outside of the box and you will
surprise yourself at your choices. This is going to be a day when you look beautiful not because what you are
wearing but because you are in love. What you decide to wear to your winter wedding should make you feel pretty and
you should have fun picking it out.
