Popular Color Themes Perfect for your Winter Wedding Reception

Winter weddings can be a magical event for a bride and a groom. You are planning to celebrate your love during the coldest time of year all the while hoping that your love will warm the hearts of the two families you are about to turn into one. When you begin planning your big day it may be sunny and even hot outside so take a moment to think about what winter means to you. You want to have a day that reflects the two of you and you can do that by the color choices you pick out to decorate with. The colors you choose will be seen on everything from your invitations to bridesmaid dresses to centerpieces.

The most popular color themes perfect for your winter wedding reception are silver and blue or red and green. You want to use deep rich colors that echo the season. Even if you choose to use just white you want to use rich luxurious fabrics to bring out the warmth in the room. Decorating for a winter wedding is all about bringing in the cozy feeling to a room. You want to create a warm and inviting space that echoes the feel of a cozy ski lodge or a romantic night cuddling by the fire, just with all of your family there instead of just you and your hubby.

Using blue and silver is perfect for a winter wedding reception that echoes the feel of the season. You are bringing in the elements that nature is creating outside. Frosted tree branches, icicles, silver lakes and silver skies will all be an inspiration for an icy winter wonderland wedding reception. You can create a very beautiful space with only two colors done in a classy way. One thing that you could do for the table centerpieces would be to have silver candelabras with tall blue candlesticks. You could also have a confections table where every item is white contained in little blue bowls on a large silver mirror. For inspiration for the blue and silver look take a gander at magazines of the nature variety to see the way that nature dresses the world during the winter months.

If you wanted to use the red and green color theme then winter is the perfect time. To not look too Christmassy and to set your day apart from the rest of the season you should pick either red or green as your main color and use the other as your pop or accent color. For instance, if you choose to do a green room then you could dress the tables in green and use tall potted amaryllis as your centerpiece. If you wanted to do red then a creative idea would be to use water based centerpiece where you float red candles and red rose heads on each table and put green rocks in the bottom. When deciding on a red and green theme a great place for inspiration is the home and garden style magazines and see how the editors have decorated homes for the holidays.

There are no rules for decorating your winter wedding and if these colors are not your favorite palette then that is okay. You can use any colors that are your favorite, go ahead and break trend. However, even if you choose to do baby pink and yellow do utilize the luxury of the season and allow some heavier fabrics to take on the colors of your dreams. Popular color themes perfect for your winter wedding are only perfect if they suit you and your mate.
